Nonprofit notes, and what they are (not)
In contrast with formal publications, The Notes are brief, informal updates about various issues generally of interest to the nonprofit-supporting community, and ways to contribute more "good" to your surroundings. That's it!
WHAT ARE THEY NOT?
The Notes are not papers written specifically for nonprofits. Further, though sometimes the Notes will feature business and/or legal issues, they are not intended to be any substitute for or otherwise provide legal, business or management-type guidance to nonprofit staff, advisors or related persons consult your proper professionals! The Notes are much less formal than that.

IF THIS SERIES ISN'T SPECIFICALLY FOR NONPROFITS, WHY IS IT CALLED THE NONPROFIT NOTES?
I call this collection of articles "The Nonprofit Notes" because, though the topics may sometimes be more of the "general good" variety, perhaps highlighting even forprofit companies when warranted, the Notes will always highlight a nonprofit-related concept, whether an organization, cause or other. The Notes are intended to help make the enigma of the "nonprofit world" more approachable for the average person with interest.
WHO ARE THE NONPROFIT NOTES FOR?
The Notes are written to be accessible to the nonprofit- supporting community, whether long-standing volunteers or brand new, budding philanthropists.
WHY SHOULD I READ THE NONPROFIT NOTES?
If you're reading this, it probably means you have an interest in nonprofits (you did click on the link, right?). You may even already be familiar with the benefits participating in charitable activity can produce, like that satisfying feeling of "giving back". However, it is also likely that don't have much free time for something service-oriented most of us do these days!
In my experience, finding opportunities to be a do-gooder isn't as quick-and-easy as I'd expect there are so many websites to read, so many charities to support, so much information to absorb, and no easy-to-follow guide on how to pursue this practice. Simply put, I've written these articles to help other very busy people identify a few ideas for living in a more generous, compassionate and aware way.
ARE THE NONPROFIT NOTES ALWAYS SHORT AND SWEET?
Most are written on just one or two pages. "Special Edition" Notes, however, are generally longer and have more detailed content, for those topics that just need a little extra.
